AI assistant

Type an edit in plain English and it's applied instantly. The built-in "Free" engine is genuinely free, offline, and runs entirely in your browser — no API key, no account, no cost, ever.

AI provider

Only the built-in Free (offline) engine has no cost. The others are bring-your-own-API-key: each company bills your account for usage per its own pricing — this panel doesn't make their API free, it just lets you plug your key in. Keys are stored only in this browser's local storage, sent directly from your browser to that provider, never saved into an exported copy of this file, and never touch any Anthropic server other than the one for whichever provider you pick. Only do this on a device you trust.

Some browsers/networks block direct OpenAI calls from a static page (CORS). If it fails, you'll see the error and it falls back to the free engine for that message.

Type "help" any time to see the full list of things the offline assistant understands. Image uploads always happen in the Images/Projects tabs — no assistant can browse your computer for photos.
